Cirque du soleil

'Twas the night before...

I had the privilege of touring with Cirque du Soleil in ’Twas the Night Before…, under the artistic direction of Edesia Moreno Barata and with artistic coaching by Julie Dionne. This holiday production is a Christmas show, inspired by the classic poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas”, designed to bring festive wonder to audiences across the United States.

In one of the show’s captivating scenes, I performed in the Acrobatic Table act, embodying a child eagerly waiting for Santa, full of anticipation. The act is full of flips on and off the table, acrobats stacked on one another, executing falls.

The scene built toward a dramatic finish: a three high, and it was my first time performing in the middle position. Being placed between the base and the flyer pushed me in ways I’d never experienced.

Later in the show, I was part of the Hoop Diving collective, where we transformed into reindeers. This act demanded precision, rhythm, and synchronicity. Every leap and landing had to align perfectly with the music and the group’s movement. If a hoop fell out of place, it could throw off the timing for a good part of the act or even block another acrobat’s path. That’s why precision and awareness were essential.
